Tasek Rising is a series of extended (probably the longest for this age group in Singapore at 15 days) camps for teens (secondary school students) during the school holidays as milestones for our mentoring journey with them. These include a 15-day Adventure camp in June, a 3-day study camp in September and another 15-day leadership camp in December. The camps help them to find the capacity to uplift themselves, through immersion in a deeply accepting and nurturing environment, with the sustained guidance of mentors.
The camps are based on positive youth development principles and the experiential learning cycle model is applied to equip the campers with life skills including Problem Solving & Decision Making, Time-management, Communication, Teamwork, Goal-setting, Social, Emotional, and Leadership skills through a reflective process.
With a good mix of activities revolving around Nature, Nurture and Culture, the campers get opportunities for personal growth and development, positive behaviour change as well as fun and recreation in a safe and healthy way. Campers will have the chance to explore new interests or share their passions (including sustainability, sports or even service learning), make deep connections, and engage in creative and diverse activities that will challenge them as they grow and mature.
