Tasek’s flagship one-to-one academic coaching programme provides personalised support to primary and secondary school students, especially those who face challenges in Mathematics and Science.

Through weekly sessions, volunteer academic mentors work closely with each student to strengthen foundational understanding, address learning gaps, and rebuild confidence. The programme is designed to reignite curiosity and nurture self-belief, particularly in students who have experienced repeated setbacks in school.

By blending hands-on activities with guided inquiry, our approach fosters meaningful engagement, helping students experience the joy of learning and discovery.

Our Core Beliefs
Every child can learn.
Every child deserves to experience the joy of learning.
How We Support Learning
We recognise that many of the children and youth we serve face difficulties such as learning gaps, memory challenges, and low motivation.
At Tasek, we address these needs through a holistic approach rooted in care, trust, and effective learning strategies, creating a safe and affirming space where every child can grow.

Our Key Intervention Pillars
| Pillar | Description |
| Relationship Building (Foundational Pillar) | We build trusting relationships with every child. A strong relational foundation fosters a safe and supportive learning environment where children and youth feel valued and empowered to take calculated risks in their learning. |
| Self-belief Growth | Many of our children and youth have experienced repeated setbacks in learning. We intentionally nurture their self-confidence and growth mindset, helping them believe in their ability to succeed and make progress. Mentors celebrate small wins and provide affirming feedback to build motivation and agency. |
| Inquiry-based Learning (IBL) | We promote curiosity and active engagement through guided inquiry. Drawing on Tasek’s QUEST framework, mentors scaffold learning by using meaningful examples and guiding students to question, explore, and co-construct their understanding. |
| Assessment for Learning (AfL) | Our approach includes regular checks for understanding and targeted feedback to advance learning. By clarifying goals, eliciting evidence of learning, and adapting support accordingly, mentors help students become more aware of their progress and strategies for improvement. |
| Mentoring & Community Support | Beyond the classroom, we provide personalised mentoring and foster a sense of belonging in a caring community. This wraparound support sustains learning and builds resilience over time. |
